Woman to Woman Promotes Social Change In addition to providing direct services to victims of abuse, Woman to Woman spearheads social change and acts, within the limits of its resources, to raise social awareness to the phenomenon of violence against women and to promote policy change through legislation and policy implementation, dissemination of information in the media and publications, its annual event and membership in the Forum (Coalition) of Associations Operating Women`s Shelters. In 2016, Woman to Woman, in collaboration with the Bank of Israel, the Banks Association and other social organizations, initiated the Banking Accessibility Project for Abused Women - a voluntary banking understanding that is the first of its kind in the world to ameliorate the financial plight of women victims of violence staying in shelters and halfway homes. Over the years, the understanding has been expanded, and today it serves additional populations affected by violence. In 2017, the Knesset approved the amendment to Rights of Women Who Resided in Battered Women`s Shelters Law, spearheaded by Woman to Woman, which recognizes the need for a continuum and continued of assistance for women even after they leave the shelter. In 2024, the law received another amendment expanding the scope of assistance provided to women. |
